Building bridges between SESAME and European light sources

  • 09 March 2026

One of the key work packages of the SUNSTONE project focuses on strengthening user services at SESAME. In this context, several visits by European light-source consortium partners are planned to foster direct exchanges with SESAME beamline scientists and to share perspectives on user needs and proposal evaluation.

Back in February this year, Mariangela Cestelli Guidi (INFN) and Lisa Vaccari (Elettra) visited the IR beamline at SESAME. The discussions provided valuable insights into proposal quality, ongoing developments and upcoming instrumentation upgrades.

The visit also included a tour of the facilities, offering a first-hand overview of recent improvements.

These exchanges play an important role in strengthening the dialogue between users, reviewers and beamline teams, contributing to the continuous improvement of access to research infrastructures.

More visits are planned in the coming months, as one of SUNSTONE’s main objectives is to strengthen this collaboration further.
